Your Qualification:

The SSI Open Water Diver qualification gained at Bell Scuba is valid worldwide. Upon qualification you are able to dive during daylight to a maximum depth of 18 meters with another qualified diver.

Student Pre-Requisites:

Minimum age of 14.
Have a current diving medical AS 4005.1 (within 90 days).
Be able to swim 200 meters.

How to get started:

Collect your Open Water Crew Pak. This consists of a briefcase containing :

SSI Dive Manual,
SSI Dive Table,
Open water Diver DVD,
SSI Deluxe Diver’s Log,
(This pack is yours to keep at the end of your course).

Study the Dive Manual and complete the knowledge reviews. Obtain your dive medical. Choose your course dates from our calendar available at the web site or in the shop.

Your course will start with a review of the material that you have read, you will then commence shallow water training, which consists of 5 separate sessions, at the end of which you will be ready for the deeper open water dives and the highlight of the course, the boat dives.

The cost of the course is $550.

Dive Medicals

We will accept a medical certificate from any medical doctor stating that you are fit to scuba dive, some doctors are however unwilling to perform dive medicals. Should you have any difficulty in getting a medical, try one of the doctors from the list below.
