Instructor Examination

Objective validation of qualifications

After the IDC, SSI Instructor Candidates must attend and successfully complete a SSI IE. The IE is a two-day programme that evaluates your diving knowledge and skills, as well as your ability to deliver teaching presentations in the classroom, confined water, and open water settings. IE’s are conducted by professional Instructor Examiners to confirm that instructor candidates meet the requirements for certification as SSI Instructors. Having every IE conducted in this manner ensures the evaluation process is objective, fair, and consistent.
Although the evaluation is pass/fail, you have opportunities to retake most initial presentations, if necessary. With the preparation provided by the Bell Scuba pre-study guide and the Bell Scuba IDC, it is highly unlikely you will need to makeup any of the sections. IE’s are held in Perth four times a year.

Qualification

After successfully completing the Instructor Exam you will be certified to teach the: SSI Open Water Diver course. You may also conduct Discover Scuba, Scuba Review, Discover Scuba Diving, Discover Local Diving, Skin Diving and Snorkeling programmes.
